Virginia senator named Business Champion of the Year

At the recent PLANET Legislative Day on the Hill, PLANET announced U.S. Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) as the recipient of the 2007 Business Champion of the Year Award, which was created to honor individuals who have influenced the green industry in a positive way. Warner has been instrumental in his support of the H-2B program and the 2007 Defense Authorization Bill, which included a one-year extension for the Save our Small and Seasonal Business Act of 2006.

Now serving in his twenty-ninth year in the Senate, Warner is the former chairman, and now the second-ranking Republican of the Senate Armed Services Committee, having begun his association with our men and women in uniform 60 years ago. He also serves as the second-ranking Republican on two other committees — the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works. In addition, he serves on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.
