PLANET sets up an emergency disaster support program

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

Cleanup workers and supplies are in desperate demand in Wiggins and Bogalusa, MS. Help is needed to clear trees and clean the area so that Katrina victims can obtain food and water. There are also major shortages of basic supplies such as food, underwear, boots, grills, charcoal, first aid equipment, tents, washers/dryers, laundry detergent, bug spray, children's clothing, formula, and other necessities.

Please send supplies to Christ United Methodist Church, 6240 Old Canton Road, Jackson, Mississippi. For a complete list of items needed, call (601) 914-7139 or visit the church Web site at www.cumcjxn.org.

For further information, call PLANET member Martha Hill at (601) 953-7897 (cell) or (601) 857-3290 (office).

Certification track added to Green Industry Conference

In order to acquaint the entire membership with all of the certification designations that PLANET offers, a new Certification track will be part of the educational sessions lineup at the upcoming Green Industry Conference. There is no extra fee involved, and the five certification sessions will not conflict with each other.
Check out the details in the conference brochure.

Certification Council welcomes its newest member

It is very obvious that the newest member of the Certification Council is a strong proponent of the certification programs. Tom Shotzbarger, CLP, CLT-E, CTP-CSL, of Tomlinson Bomberger Lawn Care & Landscape, Inc., in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is replacing Mike Kravitsky as the Council’s Adding Value chair. A special thanks to Mike for all the contributions he made while on the Council.

Space limited for member companies participating in Student Grant Program at GIC

The Student Grant Program helps offset the costs of students attending the Green Industry Conference and culminates each year with an exciting networking opportunity for students and green industry service provider/supplier members at the event. This year’s newly structured Student/Employer Roundtable Session has limited space available, and registrations will be first-come, first-served.

PLANET invites all its supplier members to make a donation to this popular PLCAA-legacy event, benefiting the ALCA Educational Foundation (AEF) and PLANET’s legislative efforts. The Live Auction draws crowds and is a fun way for companies to earn recognition while supporting important PLANET programs.

We’re looking for the shirt off your back!

A special commemorative project is in the works for Student Career Days (SCD). PLANET needs to find someone who has the T-shirt (or even a picture of the T-shirt) from the 1983 SCD event that was held at Richland College. If you can be of help, e-mail Kirsten Combs at kirstencombs@landcarenetwork.org or call (800) 395-2522.

Student Career Days sponsors and event coordinators needed

Major sponsors and competitive event coordinators are needed for the 2006 Student Career Days, March 23-26, at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
